Holidays

Something a bit different, a bit special, from TBT, one of the best teams in the business.

"yacht cruising as it should be"

Fantastic destinations, beautiful anchorages, exciting trips ashore, evenings afloat and ashore with great food and conversation, and a bit of time to relax along the way. We will be sailing the best new boats with all the latest equipment on board along spectacular coastlines, around Land’s End and beyond on a trip to remember.

Sailing for All

New to sailing? No problem, we’ll take you through all the skills you need to get you started.

Building your skills? Great, Julie and Alan will help you move onwards and upwards, introducing new skills as you build miles and experience.

Experienced helm, Day Skipper or above? Fantastic! Pilot your way into new ports of call, plan passages, gain night hours and practice and improve your skills with an RYA qualified instructor on hand.

Life Aboard

Yacht cruising as it should be! Life aboard on our Yacht Cruising Holidays is relaxed and laid back. There may be the occasional early morning start or longer passage but there will also be plenty of opportunity to relax. Evening meals aboard are prepared by your hosts and breakfast, lunch, washing up and general cleaning are shared between the crew.

Food & Drink

Food is very close to Alan’s heart and with this in mind you can expect to eat well on your TBT Yacht Cruise. Meals and soft drinks taken aboard are included in your cruise fees.

Evening meals aboard - healthy, hearty food will be cooked and served aboard by your hosts, Alan and Julie. Al’s famous beef and guiness stew, roast chicken dinner, vegetarian chillie con carne with rice and salad and Julie’s lovely Lasagne (with smoked bacon) set the scene for a week of fantastic fayre.

Lunch – typically cold meats, cheeses, salads, soups and a selection of breads for sandwiches are available for the team to prepare together.

Breakfast - a range of cereals, breads, jams, sausage, bacon and eggs will be available each day.

Alcoholic drinks are not included but you are welcome to bring your own. Over your seven day cruise you can expect to take up to three evening meals and breakfasts ashore. Meals ashore are not included in the cost of your cruise.

Your Skippers

Alan and Julie Elworthy will be taking the joint roles of skipper and host/hostess. Enthusiastic, friendly and experienced professional sailors and instructors, Alan and Julie can also work wonders in the galley, rustling up a range of tasty meals on board.

Accomodation

New for 2007, our 40 ft Hanse sleeps 6 in 3 cabins, plus 2 ‘budget berths’ in the saloon. One cabin is taken by the skippers, leaving two private cabins for two persons each and two saloon berths which are ideal for single adults or older children.

Fantastic Destinations

Cardiff Bay with it’s £220m barrage, Millenium Stadium and exciting waterfront. Home to Tiger Bay Training and a great place to begin or conclude your yacht cruising experience. The best in shopping, nightlife, restaurants and hotels, whatever your budget.

Lundy Island, ancient home to notorious Pirates and now a marine nature reserve. Lundy is situated off the North Cornish coast where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America. A granite outcrop three miles long by half a mile wide it is a place apart, unspoilt by modern life. The clear seas teem with phosphorescence, the stars shine with unfamiliar brilliance and rare birdlife and even magnificent basking sharks are often seen. Anchor at Rat Island and make your way ashore; destination the famous Marisco Tavern.

Padstow Harbour is situated on the beautiful and rugged North Cornwall Coast with it’s towering cliffs, wide sandy beaches, hidden coves and beautiful countryside. The town of Padstow is an ancient but busy fishing port with picturesque pastel colour-washed and stone cottages nestling in narrow streets leading down to the harbour and quays. Padstow is home to Rick Stein’s famous fish restaurant, many traditional seafarer’s hostelries (pubs), galleries and shops. Securely moored in the old harbour we have plenty of opportunity to explore ashore and enjoy Padstow to the full.

Falmouth, being sheltered from the prevailing South Westerly winds, is a haven for visiting yachtsmen (and women). Explore the many wooded creeks by dinghy, visit the recently opened National Maritime Museum or just relax aboard, it’s up to you.

Salcombe Harbour is a natural haven for humans and wildlife alike. Dolphins and basking sharks are frequent visitors and the town offers many quality shops, cafes and restaurants. The town’s main street runs alongside the water’s edge, sending steep alleyways towards the rest of Salcombe or towards many small quays dotted along the estuary foreshore.

Stunning Poole Harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Cobbled streets, smugglers and ghosts, pubs, clubs, restaurants and live entertainment can all be found within a stone’s throw of the quayside. Poole Harbour is one of the UK’s favourite yachting destinations with good reason and is a firm favourite with the TBT team.
